MS Spanish quiz on Monday, August 30

Welcome back everyone!

Here is what you need to know for your Spanish quiz on Monday.

1. know how to conjugate verbs that end in:

ar, er, and ir.

Please follow the examples below.

Tocar (to touch)

Yo (I) toco
tu (you) tocas
el, ella, usted (he, she, you formal) toca
nosotros (we/ us) tocamos
ellos, ustedes (they/them, you plural formal) tocan

Comer (to eat)
Yo (I) como
tu (you) comes
el, ella, usted (he, she, you formal) come
nosotros (we/ us) comemos
ellos, ustedes (they/them, you plural formal) comen

Escribir (to write)
Yo (I) escribo
tu (you) escribes
el, ella, usted (he, she, you formal) escribe
nosotros (we/ us) escribimos
ellos, ustedes (they/them, you plural formal) escriben

So, all you have to do is take out the ar, er, or ir ending and add the appropriate ending for each person. 90% of your verbs will fall into these three categories.

As we worked in class on Wednesday, I will give you sentences with some blanks and you will either have to give me the person the verb is referring to or give me the correct verb ending for the person I provide in the sentence.

Ex.

___ corren todos los dias.

Ellos corren todos los dias.

or

Nosotros corr____ todos los dias.

Nosotros corremos todos los dias.

For extra credit, you may try to translate the full sentence (in some cases), as most, if not all of the other words in the sentence should be part of your current vocabulary.

Here are the verbs you may have to translate on the quiz:

-ar

hablar (to talk)
amar (to love)
resbalar (to slide)
brincar (to jump)
manejar (to drive or manage)

-er

querer (to want)
comer (to eat)
leer (to read)
aprender (to learn)
entender (to understand)

-ir

abrir (to open)
escribir (to write)
reir (to laugh)
sonreir (to smile)
vivir (to live)

That's all for verbs. However, if you want to try to get any extra credit, please remember the following:

who- quien
what - que
when - cuando
where - donde
how - como
why- por que
because- porque

now - ahora
today - hoy
tomorrow - manana
yesterday - ayer

yes - si
if - si
no-no
not - no
of - de
for - por/para
all - todo
nothing - nada
here - aqui/aca
there - alla

also review your colors and numbers... for now.

Good luck
